As a Sortation Center Associate, your tasks will include:
- Sorting and Scanning Packages: Efficiently handle inventory and customer orders to ensure accurate deliveries.
- Preparing Orders for Delivery: Use cutting-edge technology such as scanners and handheld printers to organize packages.
- Moving Items: Operate equipment like carts, dollies, and hand trucks to transfer items safely.
- Physical Tasks: Be ready to lift up to 49 pounds and perform physical activities like standing, walking, squatting, bending, and climbing stairs when necessary.
Work Environment and Expectations
Safety First:
Amazon prioritizes your safety by providing protective gear and conducting daily safety briefings to ensure a secure work environment.
Active Surroundings:
Be prepared to work in a vibrant setting with moving equipment, such as forklifts and mobile carts. Standing for extended periods, walking, and climbing stairs are part of the job.
Temperature Considerations:
While the warehouses are climate-controlled, some areas may experience temperature variations, ranging from 60°F to 90°F or more, especially in outdoor or truck yard zones.
Noise Levels:
It might get loud at times. Amazon offers hearing protection to maintain a comfortable environment.
Dress Code:
Wear relaxed yet safe attire. Closed-toe shoes are mandatory, and for specific roles, safety footwear is required. To assist, Amazon provides a $110 Zappos gift card for new hires to purchase appropriate gear.
